NOC - Network Operations Center. A location from which the operation of a network or internet is monitored. Additionally, this center usually serves as a clearinghouse for connectivity problems and efforts to resolve those problems.

Shared Environment - Referred to in Shared Hosting and Multi-Site Hosting. Means that your site(s) are sharing the same resources (such as RAM and CPU). This can lead to issues in a shared environment as other users may periodically run scripts that may consume a large amount of a resource which in turn may slow down your site(s)

Dedicated Environment - Referred to in Virtual Dedicated Servers and Dedicated Servers. This is where your site(s) and applications have their own guaranteed dedicated resources that only your site(s) and/or applications may utilize. This increases reliability compared to a shared environment and is generally recommended for maximum reliability.

Transit Provider - A provider used as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) in a network to carry IP traffic.

VZPP - Virtuozzo Power Panel. A panel that allows Virtual Dedicated Server customers to manage their environment. Allows for reboots, file management, checking on resources, logging events and more. See the VZPP page for more details.

Data Center - A facility equipped with or connected to one or more computers, used for processing or transmitting data. Facilities are usually highly secure areas featuring security cameras, proximity card access points, biometric hand scanners and secure locking cabinets.

RAID - Redundant Array of Independent Disks. RAID allows for modes of mirroring disk drives, fail over, speed, and stripping of drives.

SLA - Service Level Agreement. A commitment a provider makes to a customer which the provider is legally guaranteeing.

Control Panel - A panel that allows users and web hosts to easily manage their websites under a panel. Such control panels includes cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk, HELM and more.
